U.S. U-17 MNT Top Funorte to Take Copa Macae Title
Young Americans take title in a penalty shootout
Macae, Brazil (July, 27) -- The U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team emerged from the Copa Macae tournament in Brazil as champions, winning the championship match against Fluminese in a penalty shootout after a scoreless regulation and overtime. Head coach Wilmer Cabrera’s team allowed only two goals over the course of six games during the tournament while scoring 14. The team is continuing summer training in preparation for the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, which is slated for Nigeria from Oct. 24-Nov. 16. Quarterfinals for the tournament will take place on July 23 with semifinals on July 25 and Finals on Sunday, July 26.

Cabrera to Lead 24 Players to Brazil for Copa Macae
The U.S. U-17 Men’s National Team will travel to Rio de Janeiro and Macae, Brazil, to participate in the Copa Macae from July 14-27. Head coach Wilmer Cabrera’s team will play Brazilian clubs, Flamengo on July 18, Artsul on July 19 and Cidade do Sol on July 21.
U-17 MNT Continues World Cup Preparation with 30-Player Training Camp in Greensboro, N.C.
CHICAGO (June 22, 2009) -- The U.S. Under-17 Men’s National Team continues summer training with a week-long training camp at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C., where Wilmer Cabrera and his staff will work with 30 players in conjunction with the Development Academy Playoffs.
