U.S. U-18 MNT Falls to Denmark in Northern Ireland Milk Cup Opener

COLERAINE, Northern Ireland (July 27, 2009) -- Two early goals from Denmark were enough to give the U.S. U-18 Men’s National Team a loss in the opening game of the Elite Division of the Northern Ireland Milk Cup.

U.S. U-18 MNT Rounds Out Lisbon International With Hard-fought 1-0 Loss to Host Portugal

LISBON, Portugal (May 30, 2009) -- The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team battled through the end, but eventually fell to host Portugal 1-0 to finish the Lisbon International Tournament. A fluky own-goal in the 29th minute was enough to decide the game despite numerous chances at both ends of the field.

It was the first international loss of the year for the U-18s, who are led by head coach Mike Matkovich. The team’s international record is now 4-1-1 in 2009.

Kevin Pahl Named to U18 National Team Camp

Thirty-Six Players Set for U-18 Men’s National Team Camp in Carson, Calif.

U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team head coach Mike Matkovich has called 36 players to a domestic training camp at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. from Oct. 6-13. Matkovich’s group includes 33 players who are currently part of U.S. Soccer’s Development Academy, representing 23 different clubs.

Three First-Half Goals Power U.S. to 5-0 Win, Youth Olympic Festival Title

SYDNEY (Jan. 19, 2009) -- The U.S. Under-18 Men’s National Team took gold at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival with a dominating 5-0 victory against the hosts. Combined with a 1-1 draw against Chile in their tournament opener and an astounding 14-0 win over China U-17s, the U.S. won the four-team round robin tournament.
