CARSON, Calif. (July 16, 2009) – Earning their second straight title, Carmel United SC defeated D.C. United 1-0 this evening to win the 2009 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals Week U-17/18 Championship at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The match was broadcast live on ESPN Classic.

Derby County Wolves Capture U-15/16 Championship with 1-0 win against Cal Odyssey

CARSON, Calif. (July 17, 2009) – A sixth-minute strike by Dzenan Catic provided the Derby County Wolves all they needed to defeat Cal Odyssey 1-0 and earn the 2009 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals Week Under-15/16 Championship at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

Seeds and Schedule Set for U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs, June 26-29, in Greensboro, N.C.
Chargers U17/18 Seeded #21

CHICAGO (June 26, 2009) – The seeds and schedule have been finalized for the first ever U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs, which are set to kick off at Bryan Park in Greensboro, N.C. and continue through Monday, June 29. The top 32 teams from each age group will compete for eight spots in the Development Academy Finals Week at The Home Depot Center next month.

Chargers U17/18 Qualify w/ 2nd Place in Southeast Division

CHICAGO (June 18, 2009) – The field for the 2008-09 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs has been set, as the top 32 teams in both the U-15/16 and U-17/18 age groups have earned their place in Greensboro, N.C., from June 26-29.

The top three teams in each of the nine Academy divisions, based on divisional games only, received an automatic berth to the Academy Playoffs. Additionally, the top five fourth-place finishers in each division, based on overall record, earned wild card spots to compete at Bryan Park in Greensboro.

New Clubs Get First-hand Look at Academy Experience During 2009 Spring Showcase
Clearwater Chargers SC Host Event at Sarasota Polo Club

SARASOTA, Fla. (May 25, 2009) – Six new clubs from around the country were hand selected from more than 250 applicants this winter to join the U.S. Soccer Development Academy for the 2009-2010 season. At the 2009 Spring Showcase this weekend, the coaches and managers of those clubs were invited to take an in-depth look at a major Academy event. With an itinerary that included a tour, shadowing current club teams and a coaching education seminar with U-20 Men’s National Team coach Thomas Rongen, the knowledge they gained will be invaluable as they enter into their first season next fall.

U.S. Soccer Development Academy Spring Showcase Kicks Off on May 22 in Sarasota, Fla.
Clearwater Chargers SC Host Event at Sarasota Polo Club

CHICAGO (May 13, 2009) – The U.S. Soccer Development Academy Spring Showcase is set to kick off on May 22 and continue through May 26, with 218 games scheduled at the Sarasota Polo Grounds in Sarasota, Fla.

The Academy Showcase events are intended to provide players, coaches and referees with the latest U.S. Soccer resources. In addition to educational seminars and materials provided at the event, U.S. Soccer staff is on hand at all games to provide direct feedback to participants to enhance their educational experience.

U.S. Soccer Development Academy Implements Changes to Build Upon Successful Inaugural Year;
2008-09 Season Kicks Off Saturday, Sept. 6

CHICAGO (Sept. 5, 2008) – U.S. Soccer’s Development Academy will kick off its second year this weekend with the continued mission of providing players with a superior environment to improve their development and achieve their potential as elite soccer players. The first matches will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6, with six South Conference games taking place in the Under-15/16 and Under-17/18 age groups. (Full Schedule)
